Biography

Sitting in his small split level home just blocks from Memorial Park in Bergenfield, the Maggid would tell tales of the weekly parsha to a throng of local children on shabbat afternoons in his living room.

The room was furnished in late 70's kitsch, and the old, drafty storm windows left the house cold, yet the Maggid's heart was warm. Most children came for the stale sandwich cookies, half vanilla and half chocolate, or for the sweetened apple juice, but some would come for the stories. And stories he would tell...

The Maggid of Bergenfield is the brainchild of Larry Stiefel, a native of Bergenfield, now of Teaneck, who is just some guy from Jersey.
